Learn More About Limited Quantities Online Training

Shipments of Hazardous Materials are required to be prepared in accordance with the various domestic and international regulations for Air, Ground, and Vessel.  For those companies who ship smaller quantities of certain substances of specific hazard classes and packing groups, such materials may be authorized to be shipped under the Limited Quantities provisions as established in each of the modal regulations.

The benefits of shipping under Limited Quantities provisions include:

  • Reduced cost and time of training for those who are involved in the preparation and shipment of only Limited Quantities
  • Reduced cost of packaging due to the elimination of the requirement for UN Specification Packaging
  • Reduced hazard communications requirements, which provide time and cost savings
  • Reduced rates or surcharges from certain carriers as compared to fully-regulated dangerous goods shipments

Because of these benefits, it can be very advantageous for manufacturers and distributors to prepare dangerous goods shipments which are eligible in accordance with the Limited Quantities provisions.

Hazmat University offers a flexible series of modal and multimodal Limited Quantities courses which provide the following benefits:

  • Course content specifically focused on shipping and/or transporting Limited Quantities of dangerous goods which provides reduced training cost and time efficiency by addressing only relevant requirements.
  • The courses provide a single solution that satisfies initial and/or recurrent training requirements of the applicable modal regulations.
  • For those shippers, freight forwarders, and hazmat employees involved exclusively in the preparation, shipping, and/or transporting Limited Quantities of dangerous goods, the Hazmat University Limited Quantities Courses can be taken as standalone courses, without the need to have taken the full modal or multimodal courses.
  • For those shippers, freight forwarders, and hazmat employees who require or have taken full modal or multimodal courses, the Hazmat University Limited Quantities Courses can be taken as supplementary training to enhance their function-specific knowledge.
  • Hazmat University's multimodal training options consolidate Limited Quantities training content that is common to the separate modal regulations while also providing mode-specific requirements found in Title 49 of the US Code of Federal Regulation (49 CFR), the International Air Transport Association Dangerous Goods Regulations (IATA DGR), and the International Maritime Dangerous Goods Code (IMDG Code).
  • Selecting a multimodal course which combines the requirements of the multiple transportation modes of your choice provides you not only with the same content as you would receive by taking the individual modal courses, but also with significant savings of time and cost when compared to completing the modal courses individually.
